Watch out of the box - Eric Narjes

Audiovisual

I am passionate about capturing real life, whether it’s documentary-style —discreetly from a distance— or with a reportage-style —accompanying approach.

Creating explanatory content, such as for children’s shows or magazines, is also one of my strengths.

Mit einer vielseitigen Erfahrung in der audiovisuellen Produktion versuche ich immer meine Kreativität pragmatisch einzusetzen, um das Beste aus den vorhandenen Bedingungen rauszuholen.

With diverse experience in audiovisual production, I always aim to apply my creativity pragmatically to get the best out of the given conditions.

Bio

Born in Barcelona in 1980 and raised in an international environment —of German-Chilean descent, growing up in Spain and graduating from a Swiss school— I realized early on that the world offers more than just one perspective. My studies in Audiovisual Communication unleashed my passion for storytelling and audiovisual products. During my studies, I gained early experience by filming and editing pieces for a children’s show, at a news agency and as a video assistant on a US action movie.

Alongside my studies, I worked as a set runner, for example in Perfume: The Story of a Murder, and quickly climbed the ladder in the world of film, advertising and photography production. Through these experiences, I learned to always keep the client’s goal in mind.

In 2009, fascinated by the creative atmosphere, I moved to Berlin. Here I took a detour into event technology and shortly afterwards moved to a production company with 12 editing suites as assistant to the technical director. There I was involved in the entire process from filming to the final master tape (MAZ).

Since 2013, I’ve been working again as a freelance —initially as a camera assistant and sound recordist, later as an ENG cameraman and in 2021 I begun also to work in the live and streaming sectors. Over the years, I have gained experience in nearly every area of German television and the event industry.

My dream is a long-term collaboration on an audiovisual work that combines critical thinking and subtle humor.

Watch out! If you’re looking for a reliable and creative partner to bring your visuals to life, one who thinks out of the box:

The Client
“He came with a camera, a mischievous smile, and – let’s be honest – a lot of tangled cables. But when the lights came on, we all knew: this man knows his craft.”
The Producer
“Of course, I knew right away that he had potential. But did I think he’d get this good? No. Definitely not. To be honest, that surprised me.”
The Alter Ego
“Honestly, when he was standing on that shaky ladder in that run-down Berlin club, I never thought he’d end up behind high-end cameras at elite congresses. But hey, surprises are his thing!”
The Journalist
“Some colleagues still wonder why he spent so long doing fieldwork in production back then. But that’s exactly where he built the foundation for what defines him today: pragmatic solutions under time pressure.”
The AI-Assistant
“He says he ‘accidentally’ ended up in production. The human definition of ‘accident’ remains unclear, but his results speak for themselves. He seems pretty good at this ‘something-with-media’ thing.”
The Biographer
“Eric isn’t the type to get stuck in one role. When he starts a new project, he doesn’t just see it as a job, but also as an experiment. What does he love? Trying new things and getting creative in new fields – whether it’s camera, editing, or sound. And he wouldn’t even claim to be a pro in all areas. Instead, he’s the specialist for ‘I-know-where-we-can-go’.”
